Bullied: A Student, a School and a Case that Made History
Jamie Nabozny’s story is the subject of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s eighth Teaching Tolerance documentary film – a project aimed at ending anti-gay bullying in schools.
“Anti-gay bullying and prejudice is one of the few remaining forms of bigotry that can go unchecked on school campuses,” said Teaching Tolerance Director Maureen Costello. “Too often, homophobic remark…s made in classrooms and hallways aren’t corrected. This film is aimed squarely at stopping anti-gay abuse in our schools.”
Trevor
A short film directed by Peggy Rajski, set in 1981, Trevor is told through a series of diary entries following a gay 13-year-old boy named Trevor.
The Trevor Project, a national crisis and suicide prevention organization helping lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) young people, was started by the creators of this movie in response to the real-life issues faced by the main character.
